dream 3.5

dream 3.5

I was in a house. In a bedroom where everything was white. There was a large bed without a headboard in the corner next to the window which was covered with thin sheer fabric that puddled on top of the sheets. There was a small chair on the side of the bed. My mother was sitting on it peacefully preoccupied with something in her hands. There was a young woman sitting on the corner of the bed with her back pressed up against the wall that held up the window. She was youthful, maybe in her 20’s with long straight golden hair. She wore a white soft shirt and her legs stretched out in front of her. Beside her was a writing tablet. I had already read the facing page. It was a song she wrote. There were two sentences then a space followed by two more sentences, this pattern continued down the page.

I am sitting near the middle of the bed, holding my knees tucked up under my chest. She begins to sing her song and starts to cry before stopping in mid sentence. My mother looks up and says, “it’s just a song.” I stare at the girl and tell her that I have already read her song and I understood every word. “please keep singing, I know what you are saying…” though her face continues to stare forward towards the front of the room, maybe even at my mother, her eyes stayed focused on mine. She sung, she cried, she was breathing. I sat there silently staring back at her, talking to her with my eyes as she sung to me. The room became dark but there was this really small little golden light right in the middle of her and I just slightly above our heads….

I’m now in another room that is completely empty. The walls are white with low windows. The only thing left is a mural I had painted years ago that I couldn’t stand. I walked onto the wooden deck outside where I found my two cats. Then more cats began to appear. They were everywhere. Under the patio table, on the railing of the deck, everywhere and I recognized each and every cat. They were all of the stray cats, yard cats, cats of friends, that I have ever given love to in my life. They gave me a surprise party it seemed.

I walked back into the house, I wanted to find the girl again. I walked down the long hall and my mother meets me half way holding a folded piece of deep red fabric….

I woke up. Logan made me coffee with too much cream in a cup with a chip on the side of it.

Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa - Caticlan guest docking / receiving area

If you're a guest of Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, you're segregated from the rest of the tourists (er, "peasants" if you're snooty, LOL) the very moment you arrive at Caticlan airport. A Shangri-La rep calls for you, loads you and your luggage into a coach, and then drives you off to the Caticlan dock where a boat will arrive to take you to Boracay Island.

And you don't wait for that boat under the hot sun on the dock, oh no. Shangri-La has its own waiting "shed" (if you can call it that!) for their guests. It's actually a luxurious, air-conditioned miniature hotel lobby, complete with TV, phones, Wifi, magazines, hotel receptionists and porters, bathrooms, objet d'art, and complimentary drinks. (We fell in love with the little Mindanao wooden chests, with inlaid mother-of-pearl artwork, which they displayed on the coffee tables.)
